 Happy new year, everyone🎍🎍🎍

Last year, I ate Beef tongue & Tororo-jiru.

Do you know "Tororo-jiru"?

Tororo-jiru is a traditional Japanese soup made from grated Japanese yam mixed with seasoned dashi broth.
It has a smooth, sticky texture and a mild, savory flavor.
Tororo-jiru is often served over rice, especially barley rice, and is valued as a nourishing and easy-to-digest dish.

Shizuoka has a strong historical connection to tororo-jiru, especially in the Mariko area along the old Tōkaidō highway.
The dish became popular as a nourishing meal for travelers and has been associated with Shizuoka since the Edo period.
Today, tororo-jiru with barley rice remains a local specialty and a symbol of Shizuoka’s food culture.
